As part of our Snæfellsnes peninsula small-group tour with EastWest, we stopped by Lýsuhóll farm for buffet-style home-cooked lunch. Set against a gorgeous mountainous backdrop, the farm was tranquil and picturesque especially with the snow-capped mountains in the distance. After a warm Icelandic welcome, we were served our food. I completed a 2 hour horse ride (this location provides meals, accommodation and horse riding tours).
I'm an intermediate level rider, with experience and knowledge of riding. I personally loved this tour and had a great time! I got to spend a good amount of time on the horse, got on well with the guides (we had 2) and was given the opportunity to ride at different gaits.
However, I don't think this ride would be great for someone who had never ridden before, instructions were very basic and safety standards/equipment were not at the level of many rides I've done in other countries. Also had there been only one give available the whole group would have been limited to walking which would not have been as fun.
I have given the ride 5 stars as that is what I feel it was for me. Would recommend for riders with previous experience with the caveat of confirming the opportunity to try different gaits when booking.

Regarding the dinner we had here - it’s definitely a 5 star. The dinner is served at 7 pm, it’s actually a buffet with the real homemade food. Definitely the greatest sight of the place. The dinner is prepared and served by the lovely family running the place. The food is Icelandic traditional, since we stayed for two days we experienced different food while staying - lamb soup, mushroom soup, tomato soup, lamb, chicken, cod fish, vegetables, vegan options available, waffles, … A variety of such an amazing and delicious food. And the prices were lower than the rest of the restaurants we visited in Iceland. The dinner is definitely the biggest advantage of this place (charged additionally, not included in the booking price).

Overall staying here was great, waking up early in the morning and walking out to the horses running around (the place is actually a farm). So it’s a great place to just chill in the nature and enjoy.

But, while staying here we noticed a few areas for improvement. For example, the breakfast was really poor, the food was cold, and not many options available. Since the guest houses are located like 100m from the main house, it takes eternity for the hot water to flow to the guest houses. The drain in our shower was partially clogged, so the water was flowing away really slowly - definitely you cannot enjoy a long shower. And the biggest frustration- WiFi. When we arrived, the WiFi was available for a few hours, and then just died. The hosts told us they have this big antenna that should feed the WiFi to all the houses, but just it stops working, and they have no control of it. Which is totally okay, but should be stated to potential guests when making a reservation.
